How do Photos & Co restore photos?

As you can see from the above examples, we are able to accept photos in all kinds of conditions.  They may be damaged due to folding or being torn, they can be stained from either drinks or cigarette smoke, stuck to the glass in the frame or even just simply old and warn.  Basically, whatever their condition, we can clean up and repair your old photos using the latest in digital Photoshop technology.  We will print your new restored photos whilst returning your original photos to you unchanged.

I have black and white photos.  Can they be changed to colour?

Yes, we can transform your black and white or sepia prints, bringing your old photos back to life with a splash of colour.  Obviously, we will need some information from you as to which colours to use, for example hair colour, eyes, what colour dress or shirt etc, but as you can see from our examples, we are able to produce some impressive results.

How can I send my photos?

The simplest way is to scan them into your computer, using the highest resolution setting for quality,  and to send the files to us at orders@photosandco.co.uk using “file-flyer” (www.fileflyer.com) which is a quick and 100% foolproof solution for sending large files (you could send an email directly, but sending larger files can often be problematic).

I don’t have a scanner.

No problem.  Just post your photos to us at our address on the contacts page, and we will do the rest.  Please remember to use recorded delivery.  Once we have scanned your photos, we will return them to you unchanged.

My photo is stuck to the glass in the frame.

No problem, but please don’t attempt to remove it as this will only damage the photo further.  Wrap the whole frame in bubble wrap (available from the post office), then sandwich the frame between two pieces of strong card before wrapping and posting.  We will scan your photo, whilst still in its frame, before returning the frame and photo to you in exactly the same condition as they were received.

My photo is badly damaged over part of the face.

We can reconstruct facial or body features, but to make the results all the better, please supply us with other photos of the same person (even if they look much older or younger) and we can use these to help with the restoration process.

My photo is very small from a locket.  Can it be made bigger?

Of course.  We can restore all photos of any size and then give you a full size print.

My photos are good, but I don’t like some of the backgrounds.

Often good photos of people can be spoiled by things in the background that hadn’t been planned.  We can “clean up” your photos by removing background clutter e.g. exit signs, doors, people, cars, messy tables, shadows etc.  We can even superimpose your photos onto other backgrounds, for example, you could appear on a meadow, in the snow, by a lake, on your favourite beach or even in front of the Eiffel tower.  Wherever your imagination takes you!  When sending us your photos, it is a good idea to send us some background shots which we can use in our designs.

How long will it take?

Most jobs will be completed in less than 2 weeks, and often in under a week.

What if I don’t like the result?

If you don’t like the result, we will work with you at no extra cost, until we produce a result to your satisfaction.  Should you still be unsatisfied, we will offer you a complete refund.

My photo is in several pieces.

No problem.  Either scan each piece individually, or post them all to us and we will put them together.  Please do not attempt to tape or glue them together.

What will happen to my original photo?

All original photos will be returned to you in exactly the same condition as they were received.  The restored photo will be printed for you as a brand new print.

How much will the restoration cost?

Restoration jobs can vary from 30 minutes to several days work.  Price guidelines are available on our prices page, however, we will need to see your photos before giving you an exact quote.  Only after viewing your photos, we will be able to give you a full quote for our services.  Only if you agree to this quote will we begin work, and should you decide not to proceed, your photos will be returned to you free of charge.  Feel free to send us your photos for a free quote without obligations.
